Hi Val,

I’m so glad you are okay with coming to the house! I think it will be easier for the kitties to meet you in a familiar environment!

My address is …….and here are some brief directions………

I will be doing some volunteer work until 10 a.m. and will be home by 10:15 a.m.. If you arrive earlier for any reason, just call the cell and I’ll come straight-away.

I’m soo excited about all of this and hope you love the kitties as much as I do! I will be getting their care package ready tonight!

Cheers,
Karen

PS – I called Patty this morning and let me just tell you, your vet loves you guys — a lot! She couldn’t say enough good things about you, and told me that she considered you in the Top 5 of the best clients there! She is also very excited you are ready to have kitties again!

Hi Karen.  Another long day, too many meetings. Quite a bit of excitement here in anticipation of becoming parents again.   I don’t care where we meet although I think there will be less trauma if we pick them up once from home – to home. But Petco is fine with me too.   I’ll bring our cat carrier. It’s actually quite large, it’s for a midsize dog. It has lots miles on it . Yes anything that smells familiar will be welcomed. It’s a long ride back. My husband, Jan, (pronounced Yawn) will be traveling with me so we’ll have company for them  probably listen to Bach or a book. Anyway.  I think that’s an excellent idea and I can set up an EFT to go to Sav-a-pet on your behalf without a problem, I am lucky that they posted the note.  I see they have a donate button right on their website.  We also have them on our company volunteer site so I will be sure to throw some hours that way too.

So my time line will be roughly about 11am and I will call about an hour out just in case. We’ll plug you into our Garmin when we get the address.  By the way dr miller was our old dr!  We’ve been with dr. Harris since about 2006. Ask for Patty

Animal Care …..   My sitters names are Laura  and Karen …..

Looking forward to Saturday

Regards,

Val

Hi Val,

Good to hear from you!

You can come to my house — that would be the best thing if you are okay with that. I am going out after work so I will send you some directions tomorrow. It’s a few miles west of Bloomington and pretty easy to find. If you are not comfortable with that, we could meet at Petco or some type of public place like that, but the kittens would need to be crated there.

As far as a fee, I have spent about $400 on their care, plus what the neighbors spent for spaying/initial vaccines, so probably $500+ has been spent in total. I am not looking to recover that or make money on this … I just want them to go to a good home more than anything. That said, would you be willing to give me a donation to Save-A-Pet on their behalf – maybe $150? I’d like to thank them for posting the Petfinder listing for me, which they did quickly and without charge.

I will give you copies of all the vet records and contact information for my vet should you/Dr. Miller have any questions. Do you have a phone number for your vet? I would like to call him if that’s okay with you. I work in rescue and it’s just standard operating procedure to check a reference or two.

If things work out and you’d like to take them, I will also send you home with their scratching post, some wet/dry food and their cat teaser that they love to play with. You’re also welcome to an old cat bed we have that they sleep in a lot … it’s nothing special, but it might be familiar for them as they get acclimated.

Tango and Taupe each had their bellies shaved when they were spayed. It’s growing back now, but you can see where that was.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Cheers, Karen

Hi Karen – just back in town – it’s been a little busy meeting wise for year end.  Thank you so much for the photos and video!

Exactly where should I meet you ?  I really hope it’s not three hours. I will likely leave here by 7 I guess …  Someone asked me today if there is a fee or cost, I didn’t think so – can you comment please.  I will have to register them in Libertyville and get them established with Dr Miller so any paperwork you feel is necessary would be appreciated.   I would like to pass on the chip, they will never be outside the safety of our home except with me (going to the vet or groomer) .  It looked like Tango (?) had a belly shave, yes?

Sorry for the late message – I look forward to your response.  I am including my daytime email and phone number in case you want to talk .

Subject: Katie is coming home tomorrow would you like her to pick up the kittens?

Hi Val,

Katie is coming home tomorrow from Mt.Zion so she has to come thru Bloomington.  I know we were just talking about the kittens and the drive.  Katie has to go thru Bloomington to come home.  She wanted me to ask if you wanted her to pick up the kittens for you.  Since it is about a 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 drive depending on where the person lives it would save you the drive.  Although I know these will be your new babies just wanted to pass it on.  I am working from home tomorrow so I will talk to you later.

I am happy to hear that you are available this weekend and that you are very protective of the girls.  My family history may help.  All of my cats have been indoor and have travelled quite a bit except for Taylor.

Dusty (Dustin) was my first cat , my boyfriend gave him to me  ……………

so, we are looking for two cats to fill that void and to become a part of our family.

If you can send another picture that would be great.  What does TNR mean?  Did you ever see the Mom? Or Dad?  Not that it matters.  How long have they been with you?  I don’t have a problem  with signing anything, but I think it’s pretty clear we are committed.  The names will likely change, the one on the right looks like a “Mary” for some reason. Dr Miller was their last vet.

A very sad thing I noticed in looking for kittens, when I visited shelters there were so many adult cats, many of whom had been someone’s girl or boy for years-you could see it in their eyes.  The shelters say that the economy has affected people’s ability to care for them.  It’s a very sad state of affairs, all around.   I saw one ad that showed a dog that had been in the family for 8 years but now had to go because they had a new baby.  I’m rambling, sorry.    I will make plans to drive out to Bloomington this weekend and arrive before noon – I will call about ½ hour out.  Also, I am assuming that I can take them immediately if they like me/I like them?  I will bring my carrier with.   Let me know, address, etc.   Regards, Val

Hi Val,

Thanks for your note!

This Saturday should be fine … we are here til about 3 p.m…
Bloomington is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from the suburbs.

My biggest concern is that whoever adopts them understands that they will need some time and patience to adapt to their new home/people/pets/surroundings. They are beautiful and very sweet and every day they grow a little more comfortable at my house, but sometimes they are still a little scared and timid. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact we also have five dogs and two cats, but they are slowly getting to them too. 🙂 They have the run of my finished basement and seem content to spend most of their time there, but they have started to get a little adventurous about exploring other rooms. Sometimes I bring them up with me to watch TV or knit, and they are content with being lap kitties. I’ve also taken to brushing them with the ZoomGroom and they like that lots. 🙂

I would like anyone who adopts them to agree in writing to keep them as indoor cats, and also that they would return them to me in the event that they didn’t work out, for whatever reason.  Would it also be possible for you to provide me a reference or two, maybe your vet?

Are there any specific questions about the kittens I can answer for you?

I will try to have my husband help me take a video in the next day or two so you can get to see a bit more of them and their personalities. In the meantime, I’d be happy to send you a few more photos, just let me know.  🙂

Thanks again for your interest!

Cheers,
Karen

Thank you. I see, well I would not be able to get out to Bloomington until the weekend.  I will make plans for next weekend but it can only be on  Saturday-I hope that works for you too. Would you be able to send me a small video?   Thanks, Val

Hi Val,

I just wanted to let you know that Tango & Taupe are still available.

The man who came to see them decided that he wasn’t ready for the responsibility of having two kittens.

Please let me know if I can answer any more questions, or give you any more information, photos etc.

Thanks very much for your interest!

Thank you, yes, let me know what the other party decides.  Thank you for the details.  I’m sorry, I should have been more clear about my son, he was a Maine Coon – not a human.  Thank you for your condolences though

Hi Val,

I had some one come to visit Tango & Taupe  yesterday and he’s going to decide in the next couple days if he is interested. But in

the meantime, I will tell you a little bit about them and then feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
The two kittens are female (I think the posting says male, which is incorrect. I am going to email about that tomorrow) and about 6 months old. They were TNR as part of a feral colony near my home, but were friendly enough that I took them to foster after they were spayed.

They have been vet-checked, are fel-leuk negative, have been vaccinated for rabies, distemper and leukemia and are on Frontline. (My vet saw flea dirt — no fleas — but we did it as a precaution.)

They are very sweet, and getting used to life indoors. They use the litter box without a problem and are learning to play with cat teasers and use a scratching post. They both like to drink water from the faucet and bat the water around too! They are a little timid and still getting used to people, so they will need some patience when they are adopted, but love to be petted and rubbed, and purr with appreciation.

They need to go to an indoor home, and need to be adopted together because they are bonded. I’d also like anyone who takes them to agree in writing to return them to me if it doesn’t work out for some reason.  I own five dogs and two cats, two of whom are blind, or I’d keep them myself! I live in Bloomington, but get to the suburbs regularly, so that would not be a problem.

Hope that helps! Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or I can give you any more information. I am very sorry to hear about your son.

Best,

Karen

Good afternoon,  I saw the ad for Tau and Tango.  Are these two young boys still available?   My son passed away in October, he was 20 years old.  I would like to meet these two.  Please call me or write at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,

Val
